DAYLIGHT PROJECT

DAYLIGHT PROJECT

Project realized during the Architectural lighting design program at KTH

Design of teamwork, location: Hjorthagen, Stockholm

The focus of this project is the use of daylight to create the character of a building. The starting point is a Civic Centre relocated in a former industrial building in a periphal area of Stockholm. The existing building is one storey rectangular box 6.4m x 30.4m, the structure consisted of pillars placed in a 6m x 6m grid system. The aim of this project is to explore the connections between light and the function considering task related needs.  We worked in group of four and we designed windows and skylights that introduce light in the building and daylight constructions that create interesting conditions in each space. Evaluations of the results had be done for three different times of the year: Summer solstice, Winter solstice and Equinox and the daylight studies were made in a 1:33 scale model and in Relux software.
